Introducing Annie Barr
Annie Barr is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Primary Health Care. She qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1982 and has a Masters Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice Nursing and a Post Graduate Certificate in Coaching. She is a member of the RCN Nurse Practitioner Association, British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers and European Mentoring and Coaching Council.
Annie teaches the principles and practice of case management and long term chronic conditions to clinicians and Primary Care Trusts throughout the UK. Annie has a strategic background in the development of new services and new ways of working, and was the Clinical Lead Nurse on the national team commissioned to run a national pilot programme (Integrated Cancer Care Programme) on behalf of the Department of Health. This was published in 2007.
Annie is an Independent Nurse Prescriber. She has developed self-management strategies and tools to enable nurses to teach patients to manage their chronic conditions.
Annie has trained and mentored Community Matrons, Health Care Assistants and Nurses throughout PCT’s and general practices throughout the UK and internationally and was a speaker at the Case Management Society Annual Conference in Melbourne Australia in September 2010. Annie also spoke at Monash University in November 2010 to Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Nurses. She also has a background as a Senior Lecturer and was involved in the Emergency Care Practitioner Programme at Teesside University. Annie also has expertise in training and providing courses for Health Care Assistants and believes passionately that Health Care Assistants should be encouraged to develop new skills. Annie Barr Associates provides a personal bespoke service to clients and deliver very high standards of training.
Annie is well qualified, holding the following accreditations: MA, BSC, RGN, ANP, INP and PGCE (Coaching).
