B12 injections for Health Care Assistants

Health Care Assistants can take a full role in the healthcare team by undertaking training in giving Vitamin B12 injections. This one-day HCA training course will enable each HCA to fully understand the principles and practice of B12 deficiency and B12 injections, the safety issues involved and the law relating to vaccination. The workshop is practical, and you will learn all the skills required for giving injections.

Palliative care for Health Care Assistants

The role of the Health Care Assistant in the provision of end of life care is an integral part of excellent service delivery. This two-day health care assistant course promotes individualised person-centred care involving the whole team, with the patient and their relatives being equal partners in the care planning process.

This course is very practical, and covers key topics necessary for the provision of high quality care in the final days of a patient’s life, including:

  • communicating effectively with dying persons and their families
  • enhancing the quality of life of the dying person
  • identifying common fears and anxieties of the & family members at this time
  • demonstrating the role of the HCAs in promoting a sense of worth, self esteem, quality of life and autonomy for the dying person
  • understanding the grieving process and coping mechanisms for personal loss
